What I am about to say doesn't correspond to the situation at hand but it's been bugging me for a while now but how the fuck does luffy hat stay on him when it's completely in the air?

Option number 1: Nami fastened a string to it so Luffy could tie it around his head and not lose it so easily
Option number 2 (my preferred explanation): Luffy can stretch his head ever so slightly so that the hat doesn't fall off using his devil fruit.

i think a combination of both of these because we for sure see the string lots of times
